cherry trees shade in summer
glow in winter
and blossom in spring

A glass plaza in the heart of Tokyo, inclined as a hill and covered with cherry trees.  Heated by the building’s warmth, these cherry trees would be the first to blossom in Japan.

In the summer, the leaves shade the hill, creating a gentle green light in the foyer below. In the winter, the glowing hill of snow casts shadows of the leafless trees. In the spring, the cherry blossoms bloom and green turns to pink. At night, the hill is a beacon, an electric landscape beckoning the visitors of Tokyo.

Exhibition and conference halls are sunken into the depths of the hill below public gathering spaces that seek the daylight above. Visitor access is through the central foyer, or directly over the terraced glass hill. Public and private entertainment facilities hover above the trees as a light rail link brings tourists to the summit.
