London Festival of Architecture Goes Digital, 1st - 30th June

The London Festival of Architecture has gone digital this year, the full program is now available online. It is the world’s largest architecture festival runs every June, 1st - 30th across London. This year the event sees a whole host of seminars, Q&A’s, Pecha Kucha’s as well as activities to get involved with offline such as cake baking competitions, drawing workshops, Lego challenges, podcasts, virtual building tours, and outdoor audio guides.

This year’s theme is Power:
‘From the White House to Downing Street, our buildings are a byword for the power of their inhabitants. From the Pyramids to the Parthenon, for millennia people have used architecture to demonstrate their power and influence.’

We will be taking part in a panel discussion with our fellow Dinosaur Bridge collaborators on the theme of ‘Learning From Nature to Empower Structure’. Below, we’ve picked our top four events we are looking forward to:

5th June, Facing the Unknown (17:00 -18:00)
How will Corona Virus affect and reshape the cities we live in? Live panel discussion on how shifts in public policy can have the potential to shape the built environment response to the pandemic

15th June, Waste in Style
On-line premiere of documentary film out lining the history and significance of the Crossness Pumping Station.

20th June, Architects Stories from Aleppo (14:00 -15:30)
A live talk, hosted by Places of Arcture, with architects and architectural photographer from Aleppo trying to find the power to rebuild their city. They will be sharing their stories and sending a message of human resilience about beauty and hope, or peace and reconstruction.

24th June, The Power of Collaboration to Promote Change (15:00 -16:00)
Architects InsideOut will be discussing a PassivHaus development in Kent. They will be debating the future of sustainable homes, as well as the challenges and successes faced by the project team and its residents. Sign up here.
